Hello, new semester | International College's first week back to school
Time flies, and the summer vacation has quietly come to an end.
This week, new and returning students of the International College gathered in classrooms, immersing themselves in intense and fulfilling academic life, turning a new page for themselves.
01
The first day back to school, new surprises in the familiar
The two months of summer seem to have frozen into the background of memories in an instant. Today, the long-awaited school bell rang once again, and students stepped into the refreshed campus smiles and expectations.

Their summer vacation,
Overtaking on the curve & broadening horizons
Student Lu
Senior high school student China
Before the vacation, I often heard the saying, "Vacation is the perfect time to overtake on the curve."
I strongly agree with this. Summer vacation indeed provides more time to consolidate and preview different knowledge points. However, the "curve" is not limited to academic learning. During this summer vacation before my senior year, I explored and learned psychological healing using it as a brand-new way to adjust my mindset during the learning process. This is not a deviation from the course, but an attempt to broaden my horizons and temper my character.Through practice, I learned to actively switch my mind from "tense" to "receptive" when my thoughts are cluttered, significantly improving my focus and emotional stability.
This experience made deeply realize that focusing on what you love is the best way to recharge. It is not the opposite of learning, but rather provides me with a new perspective to observe the world and new to cope with pressure.
Student Zhu
Senior high school student in Japan
This is the last summer vacation of my high school life. To get one step closer to my dream school, have been working quite hard on the EJU Japanese this summer. Every morning when my energy is high, I flip through grammar books and do a few reading passages, jotting down any unfamiliar. In the afternoon, I often play Japanese dramas as background noise, listening while doing other things, which unexpectedly improved my listening skills.
On weekends, I arrange a proper balance between and rest, such as playing ball or going shopping with friends, or simply staying at home watching anime. At these times, I actually learn more authentic Japanese expressions. While taking a in the evening, I also talk to myself in Japanese, recounting the day's events. Although it seems a bit silly, it is quite useful.
Preparing for the senior, I believe a good mindset is more important. In the new semester, I will maintain my own pace, follow the arrangements of the academy's teachers, and continue to strive my dream school.

A new semester marks a new starting point and new challenges. For the Chinese-Canadian and English programs at the International College, this is not a continuation of knowledge but also an expansion of abilities and a deepening of thinking. This semester, we will continue to adhere to the teaching philosophy of "emphasizing bilingualism and ability," helping students comprehensively improve in language application, academic thinking, and cross-cultural communication.
Regarding learning objectives, senior students will focus on core skill training, such as critical thinking academic writing, research skills, and standardized test preparation, to build a solid foundation for university applications. Junior students will solidify their English foundation and develop good study habits while gradually improving their participation and independent learning abilities.
In terms of planning, the teaching team has developed personalized learning paths for different grade levels:
Course Pace Optimization: Reasonably arrange on- compulsory courses and off-campus practical courses to ensure a balance between learning and interests.
