Q&A

Q1

Why did you choose the China-Canada integrated OSSD program at the International College among many international programs? Looking back after graduation, what do you think is the main advantage of this program?

@CAO

I feel that the college’s China-Canada integrated program focuses more on developing our thinking skills and teamwork rather than simply memorizing knowledge. During class, teachers often let us discuss questions ourselves and work together with classmates to solve problems. This approach is very similar to the atmosphere in university classes. In addition, the OSSD diploma from the college is recognized by many universities, so I think it gives students an advantage for further studies.

@ZHANG

I chose OSSD because it uses a non-exam-oriented education system, which largely avoids the learning pressure of 'one exam determines your future.' OSSD grades are based on both regular assignments and final exams. This process-based evaluation can more comprehensively reflect my learning ability and help me steadily grow through small progress. Looking back after graduation, the main advantage of OSSD is that it cultivates my self-directed learning ability and overall competence, laying a solid foundation for university studies. Besides, the OSSD program is highly recognized globally, accepted by universities in Canada, the UK, Australia, and other countries.

Q2

At the International College, how does the flexibility of the OSSD course selection system help you explore future directions and make the most of your strengths?

@CAO

I personally really like the OSSD course selection system, which is especially friendly for students with specific strengths. In this system, I can choose courses based on my interests. For example, I am interested in biology, so I can invest more in that area. The result is that I am more enthusiastic about learning and can play to my strengths.

@ZHANG

The course selection system in the China-Canada program gives me great space for exploration. We can choose from diverse courses like computer science, business, and biology. For example, business is hard to study systematically in regular high school, but OSSD’s business courses help students better align with university majors. Not only that, but by choosing courses I am good at, I can fully leverage my strengths and get better grades. This not only boosts my confidence but also increases my competitiveness when applying for related university programs.

Q3

What is your biggest advice for juniors who are considering or have just started studying OSSD?

@CAO

I think juniors should study hard and seriously.
